This series is an examples of Catherine Thiry’s iron composite sculptures, a mixture of iron powder and polyester resin, produced after the work has been moulded in clay. The iron has a rusty colour through oxidation, and it is a material that is excellent for display outdoors. The works are made at Bronsatelier in Zottegem, Belgium. It is also possible to purchase these sculptures in cast iron, which is an old wax process, similar to bronze casting, but using sand moulds. The Bocquel foundry specialises cast iron moulding and the result gives the works even more strength. These processes are suitable for large and medium-sized works, and are available to order.
